As some might not be aware in Zack Snyder's Man of Steel, Laurence Fishburne as been cast as Perry White:

And Superman will look like this:

What do you guys think?  Laurence Fishburne is a bit of an unusual casting but I could see it working, the man has a commanding voice after all.

As far as Superman's suit, it looks a bit too scaly, but it looks all right.  It seems to be taking a few pages from the revamp suit too considering I don't see any red trunks.

I wonder if anyones gonna complain about this? I mean, about the casting? I dont see how its unusual, unless you think a black dude playing a white character is unusual in itself.

It's the internet. There's always somebody free to complain about something.

I've seen quite a few, even made a video of the really noteworthy reactions, but nothing really for Scans_Daily it's kind of amateurish.

Im waiting for someone to say "but hes perry WHITE, not perry BLACK." and mean it non ironically.

I just ruined it, but i bet in some other thread, somewhere else, someone will say it.

Ugh, I could see that. Comic book adaptations have been race swapping for over 40 years, why is this still a big deal?

Or I should be more specific, why are people so shocked/angry/whatever when it happens?

Now that i think about it, fishburnes a little weird for that character-fishburne is usually cool and talks slow. Perry white is a maniac.

That was my thinking too. Still, maybe he's just been typecast as a slow-talker and Perry is his chance to BREAK OUT!

The costume does look rather plastic, but I do like that they have a nice big S-Shield on the chest.

Dunno about Fishburne as Perry. I keep thinking of Perry is all shouty and blustery, and Lawrence Fishburne is really not known for that. Oh well, I'm sure he'll do a good job with the part.

I could have seen Samuel L. Jackson in the part, but I guess he's tied up with playing Nick Fury.

"Great Caesar's Motherfuckin' Ghost!" That would've been funny.

Fishburne could work as long as he doesn't have that zen Matrix aura about him. Perry White doesn't do zen.

Love love love Fishburne.

As for the picture, Cavill looks great. I don't mind the fabric's fishiness, especially if it's justified in the narrative. Like if Martha sews the suit from Kryptonian baby blankets.

The photo is dusty as hell, though, all dark colors and low lighting. I hope PR picked the least colorful shot to make the film look Dark Knight-ish. Once Superman gets punched out of that bank/military complex Metropolis should look vibrant and bright.

I'm disappointed there's no mandarin collar, and amused by thier teasing the presence or not of the big red underdaks.

Er, looking closer at the hires, I guess it's conclusive the pants have gone

I really like the Laurence Fishburne as Perry White choice - I'm not sure it'll work, but I think he could do it justice. I'm also just sort of popcorn viewing the "I'm not a racist but..." folks, although I think that the casting news got a bit buried behind "NOT WHITE SPIDER-MAN". Oh, internet.

As for the costume itself (btw your image is down), it's...I don't like it. The whole shot is dark and stylized and very typical of Snyder, and this is a movie that should probably be big and bright. I think he was the wrong choice for this...then again, I thought Singer was the right one, so.
