Off Topic Tuesdays: Seth MacFarlane

In the comments to this post, you can get as off topic as you like. This is your chance to talk about non-comics stuff, thread derail, and chat amongst yourselves. In terms of topic, anything goes, but remember that the other community rules do still apply.

So. The Academy Awards Sunday Night. Loved Dame Shirley Bassey. Loved Adele. Loved that Anne Hathaway won an academy award (though I felt Amy Adams and Sally Field were great as well).

But I could've done without Seth MacFarlane's gross misogyny. He cracked every bad joke you can think of that ranged from sexual assault, racism, eating disorders, and after a while I tuned him out.

He should've listened to William Shatner when he said he'd ruin the Oscars and actually walk off the stage. >_>

Sweetest guy ever.

The news always tell us of the assholes of the world. I love it when we get a story about genuinely kind people who make the world a little bit better :)

Got 100% on my accounting midterm. Still don't want to be an accountant.

Even if I didn't really think about the implied sexism until later, Seth wasn't all that funny of a host to me. His schtick didn't really land, and I felt the intro was just too damn long like his ego couldn't stand maybe having five minutes to introduce the show.

The show itself was definitely a breeze compared to previous years but still had problems like a half-assed James Bond tribute and a pointless segue to three movie musicals. Not to mention there wasn't a whole lot of shockers with Christoph Waltz being the only one to completely catch me off guard. A few upsets including "Brave" winning Best Animated Feature when it wasn't even the best of the five, and I think cinematographer Roger Deakins should have won for his work on "Skyfall."

Well that's just my general thoughts.

The funniest bit Macfarlane did was the "Von trapp Family Singers!" gag. The rest was pretty awful. I liked seeing Daniel Radcliffe singing and dancing though, haha.

I wish they'd bring back Chris Rock as host, or Hugh Jackman. OR Amy Poehler and Tina Fey!
